Planning a Trip to Europe: Common FAQs Answered

Most travelers don’t. If you’re a U.S. passport holder, you can visit countries in the Schengen Area for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Once inside the Schengen Zone, you can move freely between countries without border checks.

It depends on your plans. Summer is the busiest season, especially for beach towns and festivals. Spring and fall offer fewer crowds and mild weather. Winter is great for Christmas markets, skiing, and lower prices in most cities.

High-speed trains, budget airlines, and buses make it easy to travel between countries. For rural areas or road trips, renting a car gives you more flexibility. Most major cities are connected by train or public transportation.

It varies by country and season. Western Europe tends to be more expensive, especially cities like Paris, London, and Zurich. Central and Eastern Europe are generally more budget-friendly. Traveling in the off-season, using public transportation, and staying in guesthouses or budget hotels can help reduce costs.
